The manifestations of isolated gonadotrophin deficiency vary from infants with microphallus, to boys with eunuchoidal features and testes of prepubertal size, to men with partial LH and FSH deficiency and some testicular enlargement and pubertal development (Fig. 11.36). Anosmia or hyposmia, and cryptorchidism, are common. Histological examination of the testis reveals immature Leydig cells and germinal epithelium similar to that found in a normal prepubertal testis.
